About

We believe access to care begins with access to working equipment.

— Why MedLegacy was founded

A human right, not a privilege.

MedLegacy Global Health was founded on a simple belief: access to healthcare should not be determined by geography, income, or circumstance.

We exist to support healthcare education, strengthen local healthcare capacity, and promote sustainable solutions that improve health outcomes in underserved communities worldwide. By investing in people, knowledge, and long-term partnerships, we aim to create lasting impact that extends far beyond individual projects.

Our mission is rooted in the conviction that healthcare is a fundamental human right and that every community deserves the opportunity to build a healthier future.

Our story

Founded by a nurse and a logistics executive who saw the gap.

MedLegacy began when a registered nurse and a logistics executive — both with years of frontline experience — watched perfectly serviceable medical equipment and unopened consumables be discarded in Canadian hospitals. Across the world, clinicians were warming IV bags in microwaves and reusing what should be single-use supplies.

Together they built a closed-loop pipeline. We collect retired but serviceable equipment, along with unopened consumables (sutures, gauze, gloves, IV sets, masks, surgical supplies), from partner hospitals across Canada. We refurbish what needs restoring, consolidate the rest, then ship it — together with spare parts and certified training — to vetted recipient facilities in Burundi, El Salvador, The Gambia, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Nicaragua, and the Philippines.

We are funded by individual donors, foundation grants, and corporate matches. Our T3010 filings, audited financials and impact reports are public.
